Initially a high school and special education teacher, she subsequently developed an expertise in regard to family-school-community collaboration and the influence of family environment on educational success of young people, particularly in relation to homework, and other indicators of school outcomes

 

She has also invested a great deal in pre-service and in-service training of teachers in terms of school-family-community relationships.
